Where and when?
The Latin American Colloquium of Photography: Where Are We Going? was held from September 13th to 16th, 2017 in the Foto Museo Cuatro Caminos of the Fundación Pedro Meyer, in Mexico City.
What was it?
An international meeting retrieves the initiative of a Mexican photographers group in the 70s and 80s, when the first photography colloquia were held, whose purpose was to create spaces for discussion and encounter between different Latin American countries, around the photographic production at the moment.
The aim of the Colloquium is to reflect on the question: Where is heading the image? Photography is not what it was before, nor is what it will be tomorrow, and this reality raises the need to open a space for debate and exchange to discuss what is happening with the image: its production, circulation, its uses and challenges in the future.
Four days in which we had conferences, discussion tables, portfolio reviews, a photobook fair, workshops, open talks and exhibits.
